The Paleopolis Museum, which is housed in the mansion of Mon Repos in an environment of immense natural beauty, could be characterized as a timeless museum, due to the history of the building as well as the finds it houses. The purpose of the museum is to preserve and present to the visitor the cultural and natural heritage of the area of Paleopolis, while providing stimuli for study, research and reflection. It houses the exhibition of archaeological objects from excavations in the Paleopolis area, covering the period from Archaic to Roman times. At the same time, however, an effort is being made to transfer to the Museum the climate and perception that the 19th century had about antiquity.
