Since 1967, it has been held every year and is one of the most important open sea events in Greece. It is hosted in Andros, the island with the great maritime heritage. The Andros International Sailing Race is historically linked to the nautical community and prominent businessmen of the island. ]]> In 1957, Nautical Club of Andros, was founded, following the initiative of the island’s youth. The establishment was decided by elite members of the society of Andros with the support of the Municipal Council of the Town.

Since 1955 – two years before the foundation – this youth, steeped in a tradition that had its roots in the sea, asked for the establishment of a Nautical Club, to find a shelter and a point of reference for their zeal for nautical sports. The inspiration, the vision, the zeal, and the desire became a reality with the moral and material support of both the Municipal Council and the wealthy families of Andros.
